coComment: Tracking conversation
Easton at Business Blog Wire points to a new tool to help us track our conversations online. A company called coComment has released an extension for the Firefox web browser. Their tag line is "Clear conversation in the blogosphere." The extension keeps track of all the different places you've commented on blogs, and puts those links in one place. It also does some other cool stuff, but I haven't played with it long enough to figure everything out yet. I'll let you know.
Thanks for the tip, Easton!
Update: Check the comments for this post to get an idea of how coComment facilitates converations.
Watch this - I'll post a comment here and presto! It magically appears at my cocomment page.
It's so easy to use, too! And whatever cocomment doesn't catch, I tag with del.icio.us as "mycomments." So I am better able to follow all the conversations I get myself into day by day. I hope you find it useful, David!

Yeah, this is pretty nifty. It's getting harder to keep track of conversations because of the way they tend to spread from one place to another, and this definitely helps.

I'm surprised there isn't another tool out there like cocomment yet. If cocomment progresses well, in a fefw months it could be the Feedburner or Technorati of comment tracking.
The one big feature I hope cocomment can implement is the ability to track ALL comments left at a given post after you comment there. Currently it only tracks comments submitted by cocomment users.

Still, that's pretty cool. When your latest comment popped up, I got a notifier in Firefox telling me you'd responded. This could turn out to be a huge step forward in Web 2.0. How much more will each conversation move forward if commenting turns into something closer to instant messaging, with fast feedback every time you get a response?

I totally agree, David. I also am getting the confirmations in Firefox, just to let you know - IT'S ALIIIIIIVE!

We're working on that, it's a bit trickier than we expected (mainly for identity related issues) but it's coming rather sooner than later!
