Use RSS to add Missourinet news and sports to your website

Keeping fresh content on your station website is a challenge. And while we encourage Missourinet affiliates to use our news and sports stories (text and audio) on their websites... there aren't enough hours in the day to keep up if you're doing it manually.

Fortunately, Missourinet.com is RSS enabled which means you can automatically pull our stories into your website.

If you're fortunate enough to have a webmaster who knows how to integrate RSS feeds into your site, all he or she needs is the RSS feed link from our website. Here's an example from our sister network, Wisconsin Radio Network.

But what do you do if your site is built by hand using Dreamweaver, Frontpage or whatever and does not support RSS integration or you use a CMS (content managment system) which does not support RSS integration?

There are a number good solutions but the one we've been recommending is RSSinlcude. From the RSSinclude website, you enter the URL address of the Missourinet RSS feed (news, sports, etc) you would like to integrate and copy a piece of HTML into your website. That's all. Nothing more is needed to display any RSS feed on your website. The RSSinclude service does all the work. By way of example, American Ag Network is using RSSinclude to pull a couple of different RSS feeds from the Brownfield Network.

The guys at RSSinlcude even offer links to similar services. That's pretty cool.

If you're using RSS (on your own or with a service like RSSinclude) to add Missourinet content to your station website, please let us know. We'd like to mention you here. And if you need a copy of the Missourinet logo, contact Jonathan Shelby or Kasie Zimmerman.
