Please don't blame the media
The political world is filled with media bashing. And that's okay ... I mean ... we're a tough group. But it's always nice to hear someone in politics come to our defense.
The Clinton for President campaign and many Clinton supporters have been critical of the media over coverage of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton's rival for the Democratic presidential nomination. The biggest complaint seems to be that Obama and his ideas are not getting the scrutiny that Clinton and her proposals are getting.
Enter Missouri's junior U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill. During her weekly Wednesday morning conference call with radio reporters, McCaskill was asked her thoughts on the media coverage of the Democratic race and whether there is anything to the claim that Obama has been given an easy ride. Granted ... McCaskill is an Obama supporter. In fact, she was among the first on Capitol Hill to come out in support of the Illinois Senator. Still, she did offer some words that any member of the media might find comforting.
Says McCaskill: "When you're behind and you're not winning, you're frustrated and you want to take it out on someone ... and it's way too hard to look in a mirror ... so it's much easier to say, "you know what ... it's that dad-blasted media that's the problem."
McCaskill insists her comments should not be seen as a slap at Senator Clinton, whom McCaskill respects a great deal. McCaskill says she's quite happy that Americans can tune into far left or far right radio ... and can watch liberals and conservatives going toe to toe on cable TV - there's plenty of choice for just about any political taste.

McCaskill is going to be blaiming the media herself before too long. Too many of her rural constituents I've talked to are angry with her support of Obama and vow to not vote for her again.
McCaskill would agree with the assertion that Hillary is getting the short end of the stick if she supported Hillary.
It's easy to be on the winning side.
