Hulshof-Steelman ... Still waiting for word

I would love to be able to tell you something about Monday's Jefferson City meeting between former Republican gubernatorial rivals Kenny Hulshof and Sarah Steelman. But there's really nothing much to tell.

I chatted with Scott Baker from the Hulshof Campaign around 9 o'clock Tuesday night to ask about the much-anticipated statement on the meeting. And he immediately threatened me with bodily harm. Just kidding. Actually, Scott was quite helpful as he told me there was really nothing he could tell me ... and that there would be no statement yet.

Scott points out several members of the media are anxious to learn about the meeting and where Kenny and Sarah go from here ... but he insists there is "no urgency." Baker reminded me of Monday's characterization of the meeting (by the Hulshof Campaign) as "very cordial." As for comments from Sarah, Scott says he's sure that "when she decides to say something ... she'll say something."

Scott took the opportunity to react to comments from some Democratic circles ... comments suggesting a rift in the Republican ranks ... saying, "The Democrats are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill ... This is all much ado about nothing."

Wednesday's another day ... and this story is giving Missouri political reporters something to focus on ... or is it fixate on ... heading into the Democratic and Republican National Conventions.

Why would she want to separate the Republican party? He did nothing but retort to her mud-slinging...I just don't get it....

Get your facts straight Suzie. Hulshof and his Washington boys ganged up on her from the beginning. She fought back and fought back well taking him out in Springfield and most of southwest Missouri.

Hulshof is a weak candidate but he's better for having gone through a primary. Nixon would have mopped the floor with him for sure. Now he knows what it's like to get hit which will help him over the next few months.
